A lockdown poem inspired by a UNICEF jigsaw puzzle
Last night I had my dream.
Nothing around, was as it should seem
I walked & walked but NO one spoke.
All around was all, but broke…
Only the children could move and mend
So we started fixing and started to bend
All the rules of before that no longer made sense,
All that silly stuff that had made us so tense…
So piece by piece we fixed it together.
It wasn’t easy but WE’RE in this forever.
Twisting and turning, patching and matching
Colours and textures, everything catching
Into a shape we didn’t know till the end
A place called home, for you, my friend
The more we fixed, the more ALL spoke
Lots of hugs for all the folk.
A world we could cherish is not to be feared,
if you build it together the mess can be cleared.
Last night I had my dream.
Now all makes sense, when we work as a team
So piece by piece we fixed it together.
It wasn’t easy but we’re in this forever
It’s up to YOU to decide on whether?
Thank you to Mark, one of our producers, and his daughter, Marlena (age 8), for sharing!
