To celebrate her 24th birthday, model and make-up mogul Kylie Jenner has launched her new cosmetics range.
And it’s both klean and vegan!
Called the 24K Birthday Collection, the youngest member of the Kardashian clan explained her choice in an Instagram post, “I wanted to do something extra special this year. The 24K Birthday Palette is one of my favorite palettes yet. And, every product in this collection is a brand new formula we’ve never done before, plus clean and vegan!” Featuring a highlighter, gloss, eyeliner, lip serum, pressed powder palette, and lip lacquer set, Jenner posted, “Meet the new Lip Kit: smudge resistant, vegan, lightweight, 8-hour wear. I gave Kylie Cosmetics a little makeover.”
Klean and Kind
Whilst the Kylie range was always animal-cruelty free, it did contain animal-derived products. Traditionally, lip balms, sticks, and glosses contain lanolin – derived from sheep wool – to soften and moisturize. Other ingredients include glycerine, which comes from animal fats, and squalene from shark oil. Plus, collagen from mostly cows’ tissue, and crushed insects are also often used. Several other celebrities have also launched clean and vegan makeup lines, such as Jada Pinkett Smith and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Recently, Jenner has been using Instagram to tell her 200 million followers about moving towards a more plant-based diet like her half-sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian. In fact, big sister Kourtney celebrated her little sister’s latest make-up makeover on Instagram too, “Vegan and clean, now you’re talking my language.”
