Can I submit a short film?

Submission is open to every and all filmmakers, amateur and professional. Films can be created on any camera but must have a good standard of production value.

How do I send my film?

As you move through the submission form, you will be asked to provide a link to your film (vimeo/youtube). Please ensure the permissions are set to allow us to view.

What are the categories?

We have six categories in total and you can submit your film to one or more of the categories. Environmental, Human Rights, Animal Rights, Wildlife, Culture and Community and Adventure.

Will my film be shown publicly?

Films will be screened in the planetSHINE cinema (launching October 2021) and there is an opportunity for your film to be previewed on the planetshine.com platform. However, if you wish to submit but are not in a position for your film to be shown, please contact us.

How long should my film be?

Short films should be no longer than 10 minutes and a social cutdown should be no longer than 30 seconds.

When is the deadline?

Deadline for submissions is 30 September 2021

When will I hear from you?

We will confirm by email that we have received your film submission. We will then be in touch with shortlisted filmmakers in early October 2021. With a view to inviting you to the Ethical Film Festival Awards ceremony on October 29th. 

What is the prize?

Shortlisted filmmakers will be invited to the awards ceremony, where an overall winner will be awarded with a new camera or piece of equipment to the value of £2500.
